Jazz it Up: Elevating Your Leadership Performance

In your leadership role, you may lose sight about what’s happening around you, especially if you tend to insulate yourself or get caught up in the “busyness.”

Or you may worry too much about your own performance or what people think about you.

But leadership is ultimately about elevating others.

It requires standing tall in your own way and keeping the focus on your team–through many ups and downs. The journey is much like an elevator ride.

This episode was inspired by Gayle Lantz’s unexpected encounter with the Utah Jazz.

Professional basketball players are fun to watch. They offer leadership lessons as well, even when they are not on the court.

Gayle shares leadership insights from her up-close experience with the Jazz to inspire leaders to win at their own game.

She says, “Good leaders are good uplifters.”

This episode covers:

  • The importance of being invitational–especially with people who are very different from you or with those who may feel intimidated
  • Caution about making assumptions about people
  • The power of feeling connection with leaders and the team
  • Practical leadership actions to take this week
