What’s on Your Mind?

It happened again.  In a conversation with a client, he said, “I’ve been thinking about an idea for a long time.

I wondered why he hasn’t pursued it yet.

Does that sound like you?

There’s a recurring thought, idea or dream that keeps rattling around in your head, but it’s just making a lot of noise.

If so, now is the time to take a first step to help your idea come to life.

To give you a little nudge, consider these truths:

  • If the idea keeps returning to you, it must be doing so for a reason. It’s trying to send you a message. Don’t dismiss it.
  • Once you start moving, even taking an initial step, you can gain momentum more easily.
  • It’s often easier to come up with reasons why an idea won’t work. List your reasons why it will work, and keep them in front of you.

Don’t let yourself off the hook by claiming to be “too busy.”

It’s likely your idea or vision holds tremendous potential to serve other people. By not acting on it, you’re missing the opportunity to make a difference to them.

In my executive coaching work with leaders, I’ve been privileged to hear about
their ideas in the incubation stages.

I’ve observed that many successful people believe a vision doesn’t come to you unless you truly have the capability to make it happen. They are energized by possibilities. And they’re compelled to figure out what it would take to make their big or crazy idea a reality.

Others seem to fight with their idea. They lack the courage to act on it. They shoot the idea down themselves before getting out of the gate.

Don’t let your big idea scare you. Just move toward it.
