If you find yourself constantly working too hard to get your
team members to do what they should, you may be managing too much. While
managing in itself is not bad, try wearing your coaching hat instead. “Coach”
is a role that requires:
- Keen observation
- Understanding of interpersonal dynamics
- Asking good questions
- Sharing feedback
- Strategic thinking
- Results orientation
Don’t be overwhelmed. Focus on just one of these areas to
improve your game. Coaching requires a kind of “letting go” that’s difficult
for many managers. Get off the field to get a better look at what’s really going on with your team. Then coach your team to win.
