Power Results With a Single Focused Goal
What's the ONE aspect of your business that, if you were to improve, would have the most significant impact on your business?
As a leader, manager or owner, you see many possible areas for potential improvement. Don't you? Choose the most important area for now.
Will you focus on hiring or developing better talent, expanding your market, streamlining operations, creating a new system, integrating new technology, strategy development or execution, improving teamwork, communication, something else?
Once you've made your decision about what you'd like to improve, make your commitment to that single improvement.
Complete this statement:
By committing to [name the single improvement] I expect to see these specific results in the business: [name the results]
Then complete the following:
* The specific goal we want to achieve in this area is ___________________.
* We will achieve the goal by [state the date or deadline].
* The measures of success or milestones along the way include: _______________________________.
* Our first step will be __________________________.
* We will know we have reached the goal when ________________.
Concentrate your power to achieve just one important goal to get more dramatic results. Don't try to solve all problems at once. Diffusing your energy weakens performance.
Return to the basics of goal setting to take charge of your business and create the positive changes you desire.
PS: Speaking of changes, this time of year sparks more introspection for many people about their own direction in life and work. If you are contemplating personal changes in your leadership, work or life, read my latest blog post:
