A Question for Leaders

In honor of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday, I am reminded of one of his quotes:

Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, “What are you doing for others?”

This question is especially relevant for leaders. It’s easy to think the people you lead need to work harder or do better. They need to show more initiative, solve more problems on their own, etc.

Don’t get frustrated, or worse, do their work for them. Determine what you can do to help them.

True leaders understand their role is to serve others – to do whatever they can to help others be most successful.
